Hooking up with his old mate, Mike Menary, as his road manager, they begin to map out a path to pop / rock mega-stardom. Essex and Apted do an excellent job encapsulating the birth, rise and eventual demise of a rock idol.

Eventually they met a group of guys – looking for some summer love – who claim to know the Beatles. They boys promise they can get the Beatles for a benefit. Of course they can’t, and the girls are going to be in a heap ‘o trouble if the Beatles do not show. No Beatles, but great performances by The Beach Boys, The Crickets and Leslie Gore.
