An early exploitation classic, disguised as an educational film. Dwain Esper gives us a sick tale of madness and murder – supposedly based on Poe’s tale “The Black Cat”. A mad doctor blackmails a down on his luck vaudeville impersonatorinto obtaining corpses for his horrible experiments. Esper ratchets up the tension by superimposing clips from a 1922 movie ‘Haxan” over his film to suggest the doctor’s increasing descent into insanity.
